Each student makes and takes home an 8" x 18" x 28" cabinet.  Learn about using sheet goods for a cabinet carcase, pocket holes to join the face frame and cope and stile joints on the door.

  • We'll start with full sheets of plywood so you can use a track saw and table saw to cut parts to size.
  • Our red oak is random width, random length so you'll learn to use a miter saw, jointer, table saw and drum sander to prep your wood parts.
  • You'll learn how to use a tape measue less by using gauge blocks and transfer of measurment instead.
  • Each time we use a tool for the first time we'll talk about how buying advice for that tool and how to properly use it.

Students should come to this class with some woodworking experience.  You'll measure, cut and assemble all the parts for your project so should be comfortable using woodworking tools like a tape measure, table saw, jointer, router... We'll help you improve your skills, but you should have some comfort level prior to the class.  Call if you have questions about how well your skills fit the Cabinetmaking I class.

Material is included in the class fee.  The class will meet 8-5 both days. We'll have lunch at a Hammond restaurant within walking distance of the shop, each person responsible for their own lunch.
