Here's your chance to make a custom pen, shop pencil and wine bottle stopper. In addition to learning to work with the kits you'll learn basic spindle turning. No previous turning experience required.

About the event
This is a great opportunity to try your hand at lathe turning and come away with a pen, shop pencil and wine bottle stopper. Each student will have a choice of hardwood blanks for their projects and will do the entire process for each kit from start to finish.
This is also a great chance to work on your spindle turning skills. We'll use the scraping technique with carbide chisels and high speed steel chisels. You'll learn about proper RPM of the lathe, safety, handling the chisel to create shapes, along with sanding and finishing on the lathe.
We'll have lunch at one of Hammond restaurants within walking distance of the shop, each student responsible for their own meal.
We have safety glasses you can use but if you have safety glasses or an apron you like to wear in the shop please bring them.
